Policy & Procedure No.18
1. Millfield Pre-school (MPS) will only release children to authorised collectors.
2. The following procedures will be carried out when visitors arrive at MPS:
a. Visitors arriving at MPS will be required to ring the bell at the front door of the building.
b. The Lead Practitioner/Manager or Senior Assistant will go out to speak to the visitor, enquiring who they are and the purpose of their visit.
c. In the event of the visitor being requesting to collect a child, the Lead Practitioner/Manager or Senior Assistant will ask them to wait at the door whilst they return and collect the child.
d. If the visitor is not an authorised collector, the child’s parent/carer will be contacted. If it is felt necessary, the police will be called for assistance.
e. The entrance door to MPS will be kept locked while the children are in the building.
f. The gate to the outside play area/garden will be locked when children are on the premises.
g. In the circumstances of changes to authorised collectors, you must notify MPS in writing, where this information shall be retained on your child’s personal records.
h. Under the circumstances of a family separation, MPS shall continue to allow those with parental responsibility the right to collect their child. Collection of a child by either parties will only be denied once MPS is in receipt of a solicitor’s letter acting on the behalf of either parent. This is a legal requirement.
